Lady Scots Track/Field Team Competes at the Coppell Relays

The Lady Scots Track/Field Team competed well at the Coppell Relays on Saturday, March 3rd. The Varsity Team placed 7th behind Marcus, Hebron, Coppell, Flower Mound, Southlake Carroll, and Lake Highlands.

Sophomore Melenaite Pahulu placed 4th in the discus – 92' 1?; Sophomore Olivia Conner tied for 6th in the high jump – 4' 10? and 4th in the 300 meter hurdles – 48.32; Senior captain Abbey Govett placed 5th in the long jump – 16' 0?; Freshman Ella Patterson won the 400 meter dash – 57.42; Junior Maddy Stephens placed 2nd in the 400 meter dash – 58.79; Sophomore Mary Warriner Kemp placed 6th in the 400 meter dash – 61.85. The 4 x 400 meter relay placed 2nd with a time of 4:00.55 which was a season best. The team members were senior captain Brynn Weakley, junior Maddy Stephens, sophomore Mary Warriner Kemp, and freshman Ella Patterson.

The Varsity team set 14 new personal records: Senior Rachel Rogers (4’8? – high jump and 18.67 – 100 meter hurdles), junior Morgan Thompson (27' 6? – shot put), sophomore Anna Caroline McCormick (25' 0.5? – shot put), senior Kiersten Diercks (23' 7? – shot put), sophomore Olivia Briggs (33' 5? – triple jump), freshman Sophia Oliai (11:48.81 – 3200 meter run), senior Emily Nelson (12:13.52 – 3200 meter run and 5:40.34 – 1600 meter run), sophomore Olivia Conner (17.33 – 100 meter hurdles), junior Ashley Booe (18.62 – 100 meter hurdles and 49.62 – 300 meter hurdles), and the 4 x 100 meter relay (52.37 – senior captain Abbey Govett, junior Olivia Conner, sophomore Olivia Briggs, and sophomore Erin Harper.

The JV team placed 6th behind Flower Mound, Coppell, Marcus, Byron Nelson, and Hebron. The top competitors were freshman Caroline Morton (2nd – high jump – 4' 10? – personal record), Claire Cochran (2nd – long jump – 15' 3? – personal record, 6th – 100 meter hurdles – 18.17 – personal record, 3rd – 300 meter hurdles – 50.93 – personal record), Phoebe Spackman (tied for 1st – pole vault – 8' 6? – personal record), 4 x 100 meter relay placed 4th – 53.09 (junior Taylor Clark, junior captain Claire Kozmetsky, junior Ashlyn Meuse, sophomore Margaret Chambless), 4 x 200 meter relay placed 5th – 1:54.94 (junior Lizzy Brimmage, Kozmetsky, Meuse, Chambless), sophomore Breanne Spence (6th – 300 meter hurdles – 53.18), junior captain Claire Kozmetsky (5th – 200 m dash – 28.56), and the 4 x 400 meter relay placed 3rd with a time of 4:20.79 (freshman Claire Cochran, sophomore Breanne Spence, sophomore Margaret Chambless, and sophomore Rebekah Miller).

The JV team set 15 new personal records: Junior Lily Marchetto (discus – 54' 4?), sophomore Alexis Sharrieff (shot put – 23' 9?), freshman Margo Johnson (shot put – 17' 7.5?), sophomore Phoebe Spackman (triple jump – 29' 9.5?), junior Maddie Brown (3200 meter run – 14:10.05), junior Ella Brown (100 meter hurdles – 18.66), junior Cara Thornton (100 meter dash – 15.52), junior Abbie Meinecke (400 meter dash – 81.99), and freshman Isabel Blaylock (1600 meter run – 5:43.78).

The tracksters of the week were senior Emily Nelson, freshman Ella Patterson, and senior Rachel Rogers.

The next meet for the Lady Scots will be the Argyle Invitational on Thursday, March 8th. The field events start at 3:50 p.m., 3200 meter run starts at 4:20, and the rest of the running events start at 5:30.
