The HP JV Blue baseball team opened district play Monday night at Scotland Yard, by coming away with two clutch wins. In Game 1, the Scots were leading 6-3 in the last inning, until Wylie East’s pitcher hit a two-run bomb to get within one run. However, it wasn’t enough and the Scots held on to an opening win with the final score of 6-5.
In Game 2, the Scots prevailed again in a tight game. The Scots were losing late by two runs, but then walked in two, which tied the score. Then, Corbin Montayne hit a deep single to left center for a 2 run RBI, to push ahead 7-5, which was the final score.
The Scots bats remained hot, with multiple hit games by Zack Ewing, Drew Johnson and Montayne. JV Blue plays again this Thursday-Saturday in Jesuit’s tournament up the Tollway. Games for HP are Thursday at 2:30p and 5:00p, Friday at noon and 2:30p, then a final game on Saturday at noon.
