The JV gymnastics team took 2nd place at our HP Invite on Thursday, February 8th. Xander McLendon was our top gymnast finishing 3rd in the All Around- leading the way with 5 top six finishes including a 2nd on floor and four 3rd places.

Dash Wolford was our next highest all around gymnast placing 3rd on Vault with a 9.3 and four other top 10 finishes including a 5th All Around.

Triston Brown, Ian Frey, Noah Gregory and Ben Soong all had top 10 finishes as well. Ian Frey hit a 9.0 vault (his best) while placing 4th on Pommel Horse and Rings.

The Varsity guys were up against the strongest field in the state at the HP Invite. Their competitor’s state rankings are:

Saginaw ranked 1st in the state;
Rockwall HS- 4th in state;
LD Bell – 7th;
Lakeview Centennial – 8th
Rockwall Heath – 11th
Lake Highlands
Irving

So how did our boys do? To our surprise, we placed 3rd just behind 4th ranked Rockwall and beating Lakeview and Heath. A terrific meet finish, our highest optional season score even though we lost 3 gymnasts to injury just prior to competition.

Adam Elahmadi was 11th all around, sitting out one event from and ankle tweek. Adam won Vault and Horizontal Bar, 3rd, 5th and 8th on Rings, Pommel Horse and P-Bars respectively.

Stefan Bardwell was our other top place finisher with an 8th on P-Bars with nearly perfect execution.

Alexander Miller was 12th in the All Around as Ryan Perry finished the same 12th on Rings.

Other contributors to our season high team score include
Luke Ford, Nicholas Gregory, Jack Smith, Michael Tran , and Jack Zurawel
