The Lady Scots Cross Country Team started the competitive season on Saturday, August 18th at the Plano ISD Meet. The meet was held at Russell Creek Park in Plano. In the Varsity Division, there were 22 teams and 181 runners. The Varsity teams were allowed to have ten runners compete in the race. The Lady Scots placed 3rd with 115 points. Prosper won the meet with 27 points followed by Lovejoy with 85 points. The top runner for the team was sophomore Sophia Oliai who placed 8th with a time of 19:33.64. Senior captain Maddy Stephens placed 16th with a time of 19:58.58. The other team members were junior Grace O’Keefe (30th – 20:40.56), sophomore Isabel Blaylock (32nd – 20:43.87), freshman Alli Grace Ott (33rd – 20:44.57), junior Gracyn Applegate (44th – 21:04.21), sophomore Elle Thompson (61st – 21:32.05), senior Julia Helton (65th – 21:46.85), junior Annemarie Whalen (82nd – 22:23.89), and senior Anastasia Helms (93rd – 22:51.81).
In the JV Division, the Lady Scots placed 2nd with 78 points. Lovejoy won the meet with 57 points. There were 19 teams and 239 runners in this division. Senior captain Ashley Booe led the Lady Scots by placing 10th with a time of 22:41.83. Senior Kristen Adams placed 11th with a time of 23:05.20 (a new personal record), followed by junior Breanne Spence who placed 13th with a time of 23:14.34. The other top four runners for the team were senior Maddie Brown, senior captain Sarah Dalton, sophomore Hannah Thayer, and freshman Sterling Willis. Also, junior Caroline Dugan set a new personal record with a time of 25:19.65.
The next meet for the Lady Scots will be the Greenhill Six-Mile Relay on Saturday, August 25th at Norbuck Park in Dallas. The Varsity relays will start at 8:35 a.m., and the JV relays will start at 9:35 a.m.
