Lady Scots CC Team Competes at Marcus I Invitational

The Lady Scots Cross Country Team competed at the Marcus I Invitational on Saturday, September 1st at North Lakes Park in Denton. The Elite Varsity Team placed 10th out of 32 teams with 367 points. Sophomore Sophia Oliai was the top runner for the Lady Scots as she placed 26th out of 222 runners with a time of 19:10 (a new course personal record and season best). The other team members were senior captain Maddy Stephens (19:50 – a season best), freshman Allie Grace Ott (20:24 – a new personal record), sophomore Isabel Blaylock (20:29 – a new personal record), juniors Grace O’Keefe (21:03) and Gracyn Applegate (21:08), and freshman Elle Thompson (21:19).

In the Open Varsity Division, the team placed 12th out of 26 teams with 359 points. There were 222 runners in this division. Juniors Annemarie Whalen placed 60th with a time of 21:49 (a season best) and Breanne Spence placed 63rd (21:51 – a new personal record). The other team members were senior captain Ashley Booe (22:08 – a season best), seniors Maddie Brown (22:19 - a new course personal record and season best) and Kristen Adams (22:28 – a new personal record), sophomore Hollis Vaughan (22:45 – a new course personal record and season best), and senior Ashley Adams (23:38 – a new course personal record and season best).

In the Elite JV Division, the team placed 3rd out of 26 teams with 120 points. There were 220 runners in this division. Junior Phoebe Spackman led the team with a time of 21:34 (a new personal record) and a 4th place finish. Sophomore Sydney Denison placed 13th with a time of 22:22. The other top five runners for the Lady Scots were senior Libby Kinahan (23:01 – a season best), freshman Sterling Willis (23:10 – a new personal record), sophomore Adelaide Aiken (23:30), freshmen Hadley Bornemann (23:45 – a new personal record) and Lily Baumgartner (23:50 – a new personal record).

In the Open JV Division, the team placed 3rd out of 16 teams. There were 196 runners in this division. Junior Rebekah Miller placed 12th with a time of 24:20, freshman Mattie Terrell placed 16th with a time of (24:30 – a new personal record), and senior captain Lizzy Brimmage placed 17th with a time of (24:48). The other top four HP runners were junior Caroline Dugan (25:11 – a new personal record), freshman Ava Haberer (25:43 – a new personal record), sophomore Emory Brink (25:53 – a new course personal record and season best), and junior Jax Whiteman (26:03 – a season best).

The Lady Scots set 14 new meet course personal records, 38 season bests, and 17 new personal records.

The McKinney Boyd Invitational will be the next meet for the Lady Scots. The meet will be held at Myers Park in McKinney (the location of the District 11-5A Meet) on Saturday, September 8th. The first race begins at 8:05 a.m.
