LADY SCOTS CROSS COUNTRY TEAM PLACES 4TH AT UIL CLASS 5A STATE MEET

Lady Scots Cross Country Team Places 4th at UIL Class 5A State Meet

Congratulations to the Lady Scots Cross Country Team as the team placed 4th with 125 points at the UIL State Championship Meet on Saturday, November 3rd. The team was led by sophomore Sophia Oliai as she placed 5th (3rd overall in team scoring) with a time of 18:20.49 – a new personal record. The top ten individuals and the top three teams medal at the State Meet, so Sophia represented Highland Park on the medal stand with her fifth place finish.

The next HP runner to cross the finish line was freshman Alli Grace Ott. She placed 34th (21st in team scoring) with a time of 19:16.65 – a new personal record. Sophomore Cameron Fawcett was close behind as she placed 39th (23rd in team scoring) with a time of 19:19.53. Senior captain Maddy Stephens placed 64th (36th in team scoring) with a time of 19:46.57. The other team members were junior Phoebe Spackman (20:00.45), sophomore Isabel Blaylock (20:13.18), and junior Gracyn Applegate (20:20.50).

The alternates for the State Meet were senior Kristen Adams, senior captain Ashley Booe, senior Maddie Brown, sophomore Sydney Denison, senior Anastasia Helms, junior Grace O’Keefe, sophomore Elle Thompson, and junior Annemarie Whalen. These young ladies did an amazing job getting the top seven runners ready to race!

The Lady Scots had a great season, and the coaches are so proud of all of the athletes! It's a great day to be a Lady Scot!
