Lady Scots Cross Country Team Races at Lovejoy Fall Festival

The Lady Scots Cross Country Team competed at the Lovejoy Fall Festival Cross Country Meet on Saturday, September 21st at Myers Park in McKinney. In the Elite Varsity Division, the Lady Scots placed 5th with 166 points. Bridgeland won the meet with 99 points. There were 19 teams and 165 runners in this division. Sophomore Alli Grace Ott led the team with a 7th place finish in a time of 19:02.49. Freshmen Grace Hathaway (19:54.05) and Charlotte Hudson (20:39.42) placed 23rd and 37th respectively. The other team members were freshman Ella Madden, sophomore Lola Rodriguez, who set a new personal record with a time of 20:48.72, freshman Fernanda Galvan, and senior captain Annemarie Whalen.

In the 5A/6A Varsity Girls Division, the team placed 6th with 199 points. There were 27 teams and 218 runners in this race. Wylie East won the division. Junior Elle Thompson placed 6th with a time of 20:40.16. Sophomore Hadley Bornemann placed 43rd and set a new personal record with a time of 22:11.69, and junior Hollis Vaughan placed 47th. Senior captain Kate Allen (22:30.60) and sophomore Avery Turner (22:46.97) also set new personal records. The other team members were sophomores Sterling Willis and Scarlett Randall. Scarlett also set a new personal record.

In the JV Girls Division, there were 30 teams and 348 runners. The Lady Scots placed 2nd with 69 points. Marcus won the meet with 24 points. The top runner for the team was junior Adelaide Aiken who placed 10th with a time of 22:48.46. Freshman Kennedy Foy was close behind and placed 12th. She set a new personal record with a time of 22:58.66. Sophomore Lily Baumgartner placed 15th, and sophomore Mary Margaret Sell placed 21st and set a new personal record. The other top three team members were freshman Avery Owens, sophomore Katelyn Turco, and junior Elle Muenker.

Overall the team set 24 new personal records, 6 new meet course personal records, and 34 new season bests. Everyone did an incredible job racing on the challenging course. This will be the location of the District 11-5A Meet on October 17th.

The next meet for the Lady Scots will be the McNeil Invitational on Saturday, September 28th at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock (location of the UIL State Meet on November 9th). The first race starts at 8:30 a.m.
