Gymnasts Win Big

The boys gymnastics team competed in their last meet in the All Sports Facility last Thursday, Oct 14th. As a farewell to the 41 year old gym, the Scots took home a gold! They beat Lakeviews’s two teams, LD Bell’s two teams, and Rockwall Heath.
HP 170.7 (highest is 8 years), Lakeview 164; LD Bell 161.6; Heath 139.8.

This was an unusual competition and the first of its type…Only three gymnasts per event and every score counts to the team score. We usually have 5-8 gymnasts per event with 3 counting scores.

Freshman Clayton Staunton won 6 of 7 events with a tie for 2nd on Parallel Bars. His lowest score was a 9.7!
Freshman Austin Chapman tied for 2nd with Clay on Parallel Bars with a 9.8, 3rd on Ring and Horizontal Bar.
Senior Captain Nicholas Gregory was placed 3rd on Floor with a pb of 9.6 and 2nd on HB with 9.7.
Senior Hudson Lightfoot started the Scots on floor with a 9.3 (5th) and a 9.5 (4th) on Vault.
Sophomore Mark Hancock had a major contribution on Rings with a 9.5 (4th) along with Hayden Henley on Vault 9.1 (8th), Xander McLendon 8.9 on Parallel Bars (8th) and Ian Frey’s 8.2 on Pommel Horse (10th).
