Congratulations to the Lady Scots Cross Country Team as the team placed 5th at the UIL State Championship on Saturday. The team was led by junior Cameron Fawcett who placed 8th out of 150 runners with a time of 18:04.74 – a new personal record. Sophomore Alli Grace Ott placed 29th, and she also set a new personal record with a time of 18:38.78. Freshman Grace Hathaway placed 66th with a time of 19:13.23. The other team members were junior Izzy Blaylock (set a new course personal record - 19:37.46), freshman Charlotte Hudson, senior captain Gracyn Applegate (ran her season best - 20:20.23), and junior Elle Thompson. The alternates were junior Adelaide Aiken, sophomore Hadley Bornemann, freshman Ella Madden, junior Hollis Vaughan, and senior captain Annemarie Whalen.

The top 10 individuals get up on the medal stand, so Cameron Fawcett represented Highland Park on the medal stand since she placed 8th. Way to go Cameron!

The coaches are so proud of the team! Each athlete contributed to the successful season. The seniors and captains did a tremendous job of leading the team.

The Lady Scots have had a team or an individual compete at the UIL State Cross Country Meet each year since 1975, the year girls first ran cross country. There are 256 girls cross country teams in Class 5A.

Go Scots!
