LADY SCOTS CROSS COUNTRY TEAM COMPETES AT MCNEIL INVITATIONAL

Lady Scots Cross Country Team Competes at McNeil Invitational

The Lady Scots Cross Country Team competed at the McNeil Invitational in Round Rock on Saturday, September 29th. The meet was held at Old Settlers Park on the course of the UIL State Cross Country Championship Meet. In the Varsity Gold Division, the Lady Scots placed 12th out of 71 teams. There were 595 runners in this race. Sophomore Sophia Oliai placed 23rd with a personal record of 18:22.68. Senior captain Maddy Stephens placed 89th with a personal record of 19:12.70. The other members of the team were Alli Grace Ott, Cameron Fawcett, Isabel Blaylock, Phoebe Spackman, Gracyn Applegate, and Grace O’Keefe. Ott, Blaylock, and Spackman all set new personal records.

In the 5A Varsity Division, the team placed 6th out of 28 teams. There were 236 runners in this race. Sophomore Elle Thompson led the team by placing 28th with a time of 20:31.31 which is a new personal record. The other team members were Sydney Denison, Annemarie Whalen, Anastasia Helms, Maddie Brown, Kristen Adams, Adelaide Aiken, senior captain Ashley Booe, and Sterling Willis. Brown, Adams, and Aiken all set new personal records.

In the JV Division, the team placed 12th out of 50 teams. There were 613 runners in this division, and they ran 3200 meters unlike the Varsity runners who ran a 5K. The top runner was senior Ashley Adams has she placed 69th with a time of 13:54.90 which was a new 3200 meter personal record. The other top six runners were senior captains Lizzy Brimmage and Kat Gough, Rebekah Miller, Aerin Roberts, Anna Garrett, and Maddy Collins. The following set new 3200 meter personal records: Brimmage, McKay Parker, Elle Muenker, Caroline Dugan, Emory Brink, Katrina McIlveene, Abbie Meinecke, Janaki Sundaresan, Izzy Gordon, Olivia Cormier, Emily Hea, Hannah Blevins, Dharma Kikkeri, and Jordan Ott.

The Freshman Division was canceled due to the weather.

The Lady Scots set 13 season bests, 9 new 5K personal records, 15 new 3200 meter personal records, 6 new course records, and 6 new meet records.

The next meet for the Lady Scots will be Saturday, October 6th at the Flyin’ Hawks Invitational. The meet will be held at the Tarrant County College Northeast Campus in Hurst. The first race begins at 7:30 a.m.

The District 11-5A Cross Country Meet will be held on Thursday, October 11th at Myers Park in McKinney. The first race begins at 8:30 a.m.
